Elsamere is a haven for lovers of nature, set in acacia
forest on the banks of lake Naivasha, in Kenya’s
Rift valley. Early mornings at Elsamere are aspecial time,
the African Fish Eagles herald the dawn with their memorable
ringing cry and the chorus of bird song continues throughout
the day. Elsamere is a bird watcher’s paradise,
over 200 species of birds have been recorded and rare
species such as the Verraux’s Eagle Owl are regularlarly
sighted. Morning boat rides are an ideal time to spot
the many species of waterfowl and brilliantly colored
kingfishers. The lake is home to the largest waterfowl
population in Kenya. It is also famous for its resident
troop of black and white colobus monkeys, which visit
the center regularly. Other frequent visitors to the center
are a pod of hippopotami, which are often grazing on the
lawn at night. Lake Naivasha is very important ecologically.
The conservation center provides information on the lake
ecology and regularly hosts research programmes to monitor
he lake and the local wildlife.
Accommodation: The center provides accommodation for
15-18 people in cottages set in the gardens around the
main house. Guests may also choose to stay in the main
house in the Joy Adamson bedroom, which has easy wheel
chair access.
Situated
on the southern shore of lake Naivasha, second largest
lake of only two freshwater lakes in Kenya ‘s Great
Rift Valley, Naivasha sopa lodge is an impressive property
with dramatic backdrop. An ornithologist’s paradise,
the lake is home to 400 species of wonderful bird life
and an abundance of fish and water life.
The surrounding landscape is host to a variety of game
including giraffe, buffalo, and the elusive black-faced
colobus monkey and, in the lake it’s self to many
hippo that can be seen grazing within the lodge grounds.
Activities that can be arranged at Naivasha sopa lodge
include horse riding, bird watching, fishing, water sports,
cycling, lake trips and nature trails.
It’s
veritable oasis in the dry escarpment country of the Rift
valley. With the MAU escarpment providing aback drop,
the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary plays a host to a diverse
number of mammalian & avian species.
Guest can roam this wilderness area in 4WD vehicles in
complete privacy yet see an array of wildlife difficult
to see elsewhere. This includes White Rhino, Leopard,
Buffalo, Giraffe, Cheetah, Topi, Gravy’s Zebra,
and Hartebeest, Beisa Oryx & Greater kudu.
Accommodation: There are six individual well-spaced luxurious
cottages each with an ensuite bathroom and verandah with
views of the sanctuary & the Rift escarpment stretching
for miles.
Kiangazi
House lies in the oserian wildlife corridor connecting
the lakeshore and environs with Hell’s Gate National
Park and Masai land beyond. Below the house guest can
explore the lake shoreline with its masses of Waterbirds
including pelicans & Flamingoes and game drive in
the Yellow Barked Acacia Forests looking for leopards
seeking out their Wary antelope prey.
Built in the old traditional style of local stone and
timber, Kiangazi house has three double ensuite bedrooms
within the main country house and two further double ensuite
bedrooms just beyond the swimming pool.
Kongoni
game valley has splendid villas with wide open verandahs
and nice swimming pool overlooking the spectacular Lake
Naivasha.you will enjoy the natural beauty of land and
its wildlife: Exotic animals and birdlife-Zebra, impala,
giraffe, buffalos, hippo, flamingoes, and hundred of other
species. And at the same time engage in a variety of activities
including safari, golf, fishing, boat trips and visit
to other parks.
Crater lake camp is situated in a private game
