Mount Kilimanjaro is within Kilimanjaro National
Park. It is Johan Rebmann a Germany missionary who announced
in 1848 that he traveled inland from the East Africa Coast
and cited at the level of the equator a vast mountain capped
in snow. This is the highest mountain in Africa and is the
one of the highest volcano in the world. The extinct Volcano
has two peaks.
{i} Mawenzi at the altitude of 16890 ft.
{5132m}, who provides a difficult, and exciting climb for
experienced alpinists.
{ii} Kibo at an altitude of 19340ft. {5895m}
is the higher peak offers an opportunity for the normally
fit person even without mountaineering equipment and experience
to visit some of Africa’s equatorial snow fields and
glaciers. The Mountain can be climbed through out the year
except during the long rains in April and May. A minimum
of five days advised and without porters/guides is definitely
not advised.
DAY 1: Transfers from Arusha to Marangu
Evening briefing on climb. Overnight at Babylon Lodge. Half-board.
DAY 2: Arrive at Marangu Gate Marangu Gate {Alt. 1850m}
Introduction to your Guide/Porters. Thereafter, registration
before starting your climbing {hiking/trekking} for approximately
3 to 4 hrs through the rain forest. Picnic lunch along the
route to Mandara. On arrival leisure with hot refreshments
etc Late afternoon walk to the Maundi Crater for acclimatization
- thereafter walk back for dinner and overnight at the Mandara
Hut.
DAY 3: Mandara Hut {2700m} - Horombo Hut {Alt. 3700m}
After breakfast, start climbing through the Giant Savannah
semi rainforest and Lobbelia’s for approximately 4
to 5 hours with picnic lunch along the route to Horombo arriving
late afternoon. Your served with refreshments later evening
walk along the Mawenzi Route to as far as you can manage
for acclimatization purpose. Thereafter descend back to the
Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: Horombo Hut {3700m} - Kibo Hut {4700m}
After breakfast, start climb with picnic lunch along the
route through the semi-desert areas, small glaciers, passing
sunny and windy conditions for approximately 6 to 7hrs before
arriving, almost exhausted at the Kibo Hut for dinner and
overnight, up to approximately 12.00midnight - where you
are woken up ready for your final preparation to ascend to
the summit.
DAY 5: Kibo Hut {4700m} - Gilmans Point { 5600m} or to Uhuru
Peak {5895m}.
Your final ascent start as early as 01.00hrs {1.00am} going
Zig-Zag through the thick glaciers and sandy areas up to
Gilmans Point for 6 to 7 hrs. If you wish to continue to
the Uhuru Peak {the highest Peak in Africa} is 1and a half
hrs to 2 hrs away. After signing and short rest, you start
descent slowly to Kibo Hut, for breakfast and rest for approx.
1 hour then walk down to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight
DAY 6: After breakfast, final descent Via Mandara Hut for
a hot lunch arriving the Kilimanjaro Park Gate {Marangu -
gate} between 12.00noon - 13.00hrs. After saying goodbye
to your Guide/Porters you then connect for your onward transfers.

You are advised to
come with your own sleeping bag and one bed sheet and recommended
list of the mountain equipment/clothing’s
to be brought as follows
Warm, windproof jacket with hood.
Waterproof jacket and over trousers.
Walking trouser, long sleeve, shirts and pullovers.
Warm underwear, Good comfortable walking boots.
Training shoes (for evening) *Gaiters.
Sun hat, *Warm hat or balaclava, *Scarf.
Good warm sleeping bag a must.
Water bottle (1 to 2 liters.)
Water purification tablet/solution (and filter).
Wash kit and towel, toilet paper.
First aid kit (personal medication, blister plaster,
headache tablets, sun cream, lip salve)
Torch, Sun glasses, Walking poles
Don't forget your favorite sweets or nibbles.
