Overview
Tsavo West national park is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. It is one of the larger national parks covering a huge variety of landscape ranging from natural springs, swamps, rocky peaks to extinct cones. The legend of Tsavo portrayed in the film ‘The Ghost and the Darkness’ are the so called “man eaters” a name given to a pair of lions said to have attacked and killed many railway workers in the early 19th century. The park is famous for the Red Elephants, Oryx, and Gerenuk among other mammal’s species and bird life. Other notable features include Mzima Springs which is an oasis of green in the west of the park that produces an incredible 250 million liters of fresh water a day, Shetani Lava Flow and Ash cones, which is an example of recent volcanic eruption.
After exploring this magnificent park you will proceed to Amboseli national park. It’s known for its large elephant herds and views of immense Mount Kilimanjaro, across the border in Tanzania.
